Tōku Whānau
My Whānau
Kia ora - My name is Mady, I am a proud māmā to two small pēpi - Anthony and Bella.
My Husband and I are proud Māori and both believe in encouraging our tikanga in their lives.
ā Mātou Pēpi was born as I saw value in what I was creating for Anthony and believed other whanau could benefit with me.
We have quickly developed a wee following and I am so humbled and grateful.
My Māori Journey
I believe I'm in a similar boat to many my age. You learn as part of kura or with whānau engagement. Lose touch with culture when entering adulthood and the workforce, and then randomly rediscover it later in life.
Previously I have worked in the IT industry. I achieved a few microsoft qualifations and trained many people in using technology to its best potenial. In this space I also tried to dabble in the Māori Culture too - however limited it was.
I would help with Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori each year, organized a few visits onto the Marae, ran educational classes throughout the organizations, made posters around the offices and so much more - I have such a passion for teaching, engaging and helping others and I thought, now that I am on this journey why not share it with other Whānau in similar positions.
Being a Māmā
Becoming a Māmā has been the best experience and journey. I am so proud of my tinana/body, and extremely grateful for my support network.
There have been struggles, learnings and adjustments but it is truly momoho/rewarding - especially now that Anthony is in his full toddler stage.
Whilst learning to be the best I can be for my tamariki I am embracing my creative side and challenging myself with ā Mātou Pēpi.
I like to be busy and you would think a life with 2 under 2 I would have my hands full - but I am up for the challenge.
